Town Hall Gospel Choir is looking to expand all sections – if you have choral experience, and are looking to join a choir, this is your chance to join one of the most exciting groups performing in the city!

Town Hall Gospel Choir was formed in 2007 with the help of leading a capella group Black Voices and created a community choir of people from a diverse range of backgrounds to perform at the re-opening of the newly refurbished Town Hall.

After stealing the show at the re-opening concert it became clear that the choir contained a significant pool of talent and was something special that deserved to continue.

The choir has performed numerous times at Town Hall with Black Voices, at Artsfest, and most recently a sold-out concert with Sir Willard White as part of the building’s 175th anniversary celebrations.

Future Town Hall Gospel Choir performances include a very special concert with South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra at Symphony Hall in May 2010.

Applicants should be able to commit to weekly evening rehearsals, as well as at least three performances a year.

The ability to read music is an advantage but not essential and previous experience in choral singing is required.

Auditions will be held at Town Hall on the evenings of 19 and 20 January 2010.

For more information or to apply for an audition time, please email paul.keene@thsh.co.uk by Friday 15 January 2010.

Town Hall Gospel Choir is supported by Arts Council England and the Roughley Charitable Trust
