THSH switches off for Earth Hour

27 March 2009

Iconic buildings in Birmingham will be turning off their lights on Saturday 28 March in support of WWF’s Earth Hour. Town Hall and Symphony Hall, the Council House, Selfridges, Custard Factory, Millennium Point and Birmingham FC are all taking part in the initiative, which aims to be the largest mass global action on climate change ever.

The organisers are asking individuals, businesses, community groups, schools, towns and cities around the world to switch off their lights for one hour to send a signal to urge global leaders to take action to tackle climate change.

Birmingham will be joining over 2000 towns and cities from more than 80 countries including landmarks such as Nelson’s Column and Wembley Arch in London, Paris’s Eiffel Tower and the Sydney Opera House.
