SONGS OF PRAISE AT TOWN HALL

14 January 2010

The Grade I listed concert hall provided the stunning backdrop for filming of the popular TV series which regularly attracts 2.5 million viewers.

In this programme, Simon Wales, General Manager for Town Hall Birmingham, talks about the history of the building and its recent refurbishment with presenter Aled Jones.

The show also features special guests including Birmingham City Organist Thomas Trotter, English operatic pop singer Jonathan Ansell and the Jaguar Brass Band.

Aled Jones also meets Andrew Smith, Director of Youth Encounter, a project which encourages Muslim and Christian young people to learn more about each other and there’s a tranquil trip on the city’s canals, with a couple who run special excursions to get away from the stresses of day to day living.

Two previous programmes were broadcast in April 2009.

Songs of Praise will be screened on BBC One, 24th January at 5 pm.
