BBC Songs of Praise

BBC Songs of Praise

3 April 2009

A spectacular celebration of Handel’s Messiah, recorded at Town Hall Birmingham, will be broadcast on BBC One’s Songs of Praise over two programmes on Easter Sunday 12 & Sunday 19 April.

Introduced by Aled Jones, the programmes feature favourite arias and choruses from this much-loved work. A choir of 1000 singers from the Midlands join soloists Elin Manahan Thomas, Rhys Meirion and Jonathan Lemalu to raise their voices for this unique event.

Now in its 47th year, the BBC’s flagship inspirational programme regularly attracts 2.5m viewers. The first of the two programmes is broadcast on Easter Sunday on BBC One at 5.55pm.
