Birmingham City Organist, Thomas Trotter, gave a 25th anniversary recital at Town Hall on 6 October

A capacity audience attended the recital which took place in the presence of the Deputy Lord Mayor Cllr Randal Brew. To celebrate the remarkable achievement, Thomas was presented with a jeroboam of champagne.

The concert was Thomas’s 596th lunchtime recital since he was appointed City Organist in 1983. He will give his 600th lunchtime recital on 24 November.

Thomas Trotter was appointed City Organist in 1983 in succession to Sir George Thalben-Ball and now presides over two of the finest organs in Europe – the historic Town Hall instrument (1834) and Symphony Hall’s modern Klais organ (2001).
